The research objectives to be achieved is: to see the best way to using movies with English subtitles in class X SMA PGRI 4 Denpasar. The form of research used Class Action Research (CAR). While the population in the study used in this study were 10th grade students at SMA PGRI 4 Denpasar with a total population of 17 students. The samples in this study were students who had low vocabulary mastery in class 10 SMA PGRI 4 Denpasar, totalling 17 students. In collecting data, the method used is the main method which includes test methods, observation, interviews, and documentation. The test method was used to determine the improve in students' vocabulary mastery after students received teaching cycle I and cycle II, the observation method was used to determine the condition of students when receiving teaching in both cycle I and II, the interview method was to find out the opinions of students and teachers about the use of movie with English subtitles and the obstacles experienced during learning, the documentation method is used to find out the names of research respondents.
The results showed that: (1) efforts to improve vocabulary mastery of 10th grade students at SMA PGRI 4 Denpasar can be carried out with the following steps: a) preparation, b) delivery of indicators and objectives, c) screening of films with English subtitles d) discussion of difficult vocabulary found by students e) Games to hone student vocabulary f) making conclusions about learning (2) The use of movies with English subtitles can improve students' vocabulary mastery in class 10 IPA SMA PGRI 4 Denpasar. This can be seen from the increase in the average value of student tests from the initial condition of 52.88, to 78.88 in cycle I, and in cycle II to 86.76. The percentage of completeness increased from the initial condition of 63% in cycle I to 76% and in cycle II to 88%.
